In his opening speech, Mr. Truong Gia Bao, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Industrial Real Estate Association, said that the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the shift in global supply chains, and geopolitical and economic fluctuations in the world are posing new requirements for the development of industrial parks.
Over the past two decades, industrial parks have become one of the country’s important economic growth drivers. To date, the country has had more than 400 planned industrial parks, of which more than 290 have been put into operation, attracting hundreds of billions of USD in investment capital, creating jobs for millions of workers, and making significant contributions to the state budget.

However, in addition to the achieved results, reality also shows that the traditional industrial park development model is facing a number of shortcomings and challenges such as the low level of regional connectivity and infrastructure connection; Digital transformation and smart governance have not been properly invested in, environmental standards, sustainable development, and circular economy are still in the process of being shaped…
“Therefore, we need a new mindset, a new approach in planning, developing, and operating industrial parks that are not only places of production, but also ecosystems that support innovation, are the core of connecting the global supply chain, and are a space for harmonious development between the economy, society, and environment,” said Mr. Bao.
Chairman of the Vietnam Real Estate Association (VNREA) Nguyen Van Khoi assessed that Vietnam is emerging as a strategic destination for international investment flows, thanks to its favorable geographical location, stable macro-economy, and increasingly improved investment environment.
However, along with opportunities come new challenges such as higher requirements for sustainable development, ESG (environment-social-governance) standards, digital transformation, emission reduction, or labor quality. These require Vietnam to comprehensively restructure its industrial park system.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Industrial Real Estate Association, investing in industrial park infrastructure development associated with Vietnam’s socio-economic development plan is facing a golden opportunity in the new era.
Vietnam has created a favorable and attractive policy framework for investors with clear orientations from the Socio-Economic Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period, the Green Growth Strategy and the “Four Pillars” Resolution of the Politburo recently issued.
The trend of “greening” industrial parks is not only a mandatory requirement, but also the key to attracting FDI and improving competitiveness.
